Blue sparkle cloak

I had bought this fabric a long time ago and forgotten all about it. It was in a bag in the bottom of the closet. It is a gorgeous light blue with white flowers and silver sparkles. It is a heavier poly fabric and I couldn't make tie out of it, so I added a white frog at the neck. It is gorgeous.

Treasury

I am so lucky to have one of my handwoven rugs included in a treasury on etsy.com. Kristen from sewnsunday put my Caribbean rag rug in her treasury. Check it out here http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=43995

Blue Jean Rag Rugs

I received all these great jeans from a friend and I have started making rugs. I used my electric scissors to cut them into two inch strips. I sewed a bunch of these together and started weaving. And it didn't work. It was just too bulky. So I took all of that out and cut them into one inch strips, and that worked great. It has enough bulk to it to make it a heavy rug, but not too much that it won't weave well. I read in one of my books to always do a sampler before starting to see if the warp and the weft work together. Also to see if the idea in your head is what you are actually weaving. It is an excellent idea and my goal is to start doing samples. It would have saved me some time, plus I would have seen how the different blues would go together.

New idea for edge of rugs

I finished the velvet rug and it is beautiful, but I kinda want to do something different with the edge and fringe. I had this idea to cover it with more velvet. To sew a little flap over it and tuck it inside. I'll try that tomorrow and see how it goes.

Weavers and spinners of the Plains

I was so excited a couple of months back when I was contacted by a very nice woman about joining the Weavers and Spinners of the Plains group. I went to North Platte and met a great group of women. Everyone brought something that they had been working on. The talent and creativity was amazing. Beautiful scarves, place mats, rug mugs, rugs and many other items. I got some great ideas and have implemented them in my own work. I had not been putting a header on my rugs, and they told me it really made it easier to tie the knots. So I have started doing that on my own rugs and it has made a great difference. We have our next meeting in Ogalalla on March 14th, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things everyone will bring.
